چکیده

We extended McMillan's Green's function method to study the equilibrium spin current (ESC) in a ferromagnet/ferromagnet (FM/FM) tunnelling junction , in which the magnetic moments in both FM electrodes are not collinear. The single-electron Green's function of the junction system is directly constructed from the elements of the scattering matrix which can be obtained by matching wavefunctions at boundaries. The ESC is found to be determined only by the Andreev-type reflection amplitudes as in the Josephson effect. The obtained expression of ESC is an exact result and at the strong barrier limit gives the same explanation for the origin of ESC as the linear response theory, that is, ESC comes from the exchange coupling between the magnetic moments of the two FM electrodes, J ∼ h l × h r. In the weak barrier region, ESC cannot form spontaneously in a noncollinear FM/FM junction when there is no tunneling barrier between the two FM electrodes.

Spin-Flip Scattering Effect on the Current-Induced Spin Torque in Ferromagnet-Insulator-Ferromagnet Tunnel Junctions

We have investigated the current-induced spin transfer torque of a ferromagnet-insulator-ferromagnet tunnel junction by taking the spin-flip scatterings into account. It is found that the spin-flip scattering can induce an additional spin torque, enhancing the maximum of the spin torque and giving rise to an angular shift compared to the case when the spin-flip scatterings are neglected. The ef...

99 9 Interplay between Spin Polarization and out - of - Equilibrium Transport in S - F - S Junctions

We present a scattering treatment of transport in S-F-S junctions with a small ferromagnetic metal region inside the junction. The charge carriers are assumed not to thermalize with the fer-romagnet conduction band, and the ferromagnetic and superconductor orders coexist close to the interfaces. This requires a small ferromagnetic region in the junction. Ferromagnetism in the junction provides ...

Current-induced magnetization changes in a spin valve due to incoherent emission of non-equilibrium magnons

We describe spin transfer in a ferromagnet/normal metal/ferromagnet spin-valve point contact. Spin is transferred from the spin-polarized device current to the magnetization of the free layer by the mechanism of incoherent magnon emission by electrons. Our approach is based on the rate equation for the magnon occupation, using Fermi’s golden rule for magnon emission and absorption and the non-e...

How to Measure Degree of Spin Polarization

Spintronics is an emerging field of research combining two traditional branches of physics: magnetism and electronics. It is based on the ability of ferromagnetic materials to conduct spin-polarized currents. The effectiveness of spintronics depends on the extent to which a current is spin-polarized [1], which in turn depends on the spin polarization of the ferromagnetic materials. All device d...

Spin-relaxation and magnetoresistance in FM/SC/FM tunnel junctions

The effect of spin relaxation on tunnel magnetoresistance (TMR) in a ferromagnet/superconductor/ferromagnet (FM/SC/FM) double tunnel junction is theoretically studied. The spin accumulation in SC is determined by balancing of the spin-injection rate and the spin-relaxation rate. In the superconducting state, the spinrelaxation time τs becomes longer with decreasing temperature, resulting in a r...
